The Ontario Rugby League 2022 Season for senior men’s and women’s domestic league is set to kick off this Sunday, May 15th at Fletcher’s Fields in Markham. The Senior women will be kicking off at 11:00AM and the Senior men will be kicking off at 12:30PM. Spectators are welcome to join and athletes are encouraged to stick around and socialize – the bar will be open!

The domestic competition will include 5 full-contact games for both programs, weekly trainings on Wednesday evenings, a 3-game co-ed CanTag series with the Greybeards Masters’ RL, a 9s tournament in August (details TBD), and more to be planned for the coming Fall.
Registration fees are $175 + tax, which includes the ORL membership fee ($30), CRLA insurance ($70), and a programming fee of $75 for the full season. These dues give athletes full access to all programming and ORL-funded events, full coverage insurance-wise for playing purposes, and voting rights at the ORL Annual General Meeting in 2023. The 2022 season is going to be crucial for future higher-level competitions, with the Annual Canada East vs. West game coming up for both the men and women and the upcoming Rugby League World Cup, as trials for the Canada Ravens WC squad are still ongoing. For the men, playing in the ORL domestic league means playing for feeder teams for organizations such as the Ontario Provincial RL team, Eastern Canada RL, the Canada Wolverines, and the Toronto Wolfpack. For the women, the domestic ORL competition feeds into the Ontario Provincial RL team, Eastern Canada RL, and the Canada Ravens.
The ORL is extremely excited to kick the season off after a long almost-3-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent challenges. This is an extremely exciting time for the League and we hope it will be a season to remember, as getting the community back together and providing some quality domestic playing opportunities has been a priority.
